Description
Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating the
activities and functions of the medical staff credentialing process
according to its By-Laws, rules and regulations; assures compliance
with local, state and federal laws relating to credentialing of all
independent providers of care at the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family
Health Center. Responsibilities:
- Manages all credentialing activities for the Family Health
Center.
- Prepares initial and reappointment credentialing applications
of Faculty physicians to meet regulatory and insurance provider
requirements, types all questionnaires, applications or documents
to completion in credentialing process and updates information in
practice management system. Corrects any issues within the practice
management system, which deal with credentialing that would put
claims on hold.
- Process reappointment applications to include research and
verification of all reappointment documentation to ensure the
program's objectives are accomplished. Ensures the credentialing of
applications for reappointment is coordinated accurately and timely
in compliance with defined schedules. Collects and analyzes
information thoroughly to identify potential quality care issues,
behavioral problems, appropriate education and training.
Investigates issues of concern, generates reports, and presents
findings to facilitate recommendations to the Family Health Center
Director.
- Interfaces effectively with the Revenue Cycle Manager and Nurse
Manager to integrate quality of care and risk management and Audit
Summary report finding into the provisional review and
reappointment process resulting in acceptable outcomes. Activates
and monitors provisional processes to include timely data
collection, analysis, and reporting to assure compliance with rules
and regulations.
- Facilitates assigned medical staff standing. Consults with
Nurse Manager and Revenue Cycle Manager to achieve action-oriented
outcomes assuring that problems identified are either acted upon or
appropriately referred.
- Records Fee Schedule Tracking spreadsheet and recommendations
succinctly and accurately to substantiate actions taken. Updates
practice management system with new allowable fee schedules on a
yearly basis. Maintains and protects the confidential record of
chargemaster and fee schedule.
- Maintains documented evidence of professional license, federal
and state narcotics certificates and professional liability
coverage of Medical Staff members.
- Responsible for the integrity of both the credentialing
database and contracts for Family Health including daily
maintenance and production of reports, correspondence, and
labels.
- Produces tracking reports and uses them to detect and resolve
work in process issues.
- Assists the Revenue Cycle Manager and Director of the FHC in
organizing the Credentials and Privileges guidelines.
- Provides current and accurate information on legal
issues/requirements and pertinent regulatory standards using case
precedent citations, Texas Medical Practice Act requirements, and
other state and federal guidelines to facilitate informed decisions
and avoid anti-trust litigation and other legal consequences.
- Assists the FHC Director, and Revenue Cycle Manager, and Nurse
Manager in bringing about an enhancement of relationships with
physicians by working effectively with physician leaders, new
medical faculty and residents.
- Schedules and coordinates departmental meetings, orders
catering (where applicable); records and transcribes minutes for
the curriculum committee - admin; and coordinates follow up
action.
- Reads incoming correspondence; determines deadlines and
suspension dates and refers to appropriate individual.
- Demonstrates competence to perform assigned responsibilities in
a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of the
members served by the Family Health Center.
- Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment
and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical,
psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs
of each member served.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education
- Associate's Degree or equivalent education and experience.
Medical terminology training is preferred. Experience
- Two-three (2-3) years recent experience of progressively more
responsible experience in medical staff services, preferably in a
large health care facility. Licenses, Registrations, or
Certifications
- Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
