Antonio and Tampa.Overview:We are searching for a Director or VP of
Construction (i.e., job title based on experience). The Director or
VP of Construction will effectively and efficiently provide
managerial leadership of all construction activities on a division
wide basis. Hire, train and motivate construction staff. Work
collaboratively with all functional peers to ensure achievement of
business plans. Ensure quality construction is performed on time,
within budget resulting in satisfied customers. Partner with
Purchasing leadership to establish and maintain effective
subcontractor base. Create and manage programs to deliver
consistent customer satisfaction. Analyze trends in service work to
identify root cause of errors. Develop and implement programs to
correct root cause of errors.Responsibilities: (Included but not
limited to)
- Provide managerial leadership for all areas within construction
operations.
- Maintain relationships with trade partners to ensure positive
results and open communication.
- Drive construction cycle time and build efficiencies to
maximize timely delivery of quality product.
- Ensure that construction function is well staffed and competent
in technical, administrative and customer satisfaction skills.
- Ensure that construction activities are performed in a
cost-effective manner.
- Develop and meet construction department closing and expense
budgets.
- Team with Sales and Marketing management to ensure coordination
and problem solving between the respective organizations.
- Support Land Development and Acquisition functions as
needed.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the divisional leadership
team and corporate team as requested.
- Continuously communicate any major issues to Division Manager
with suggestions for resolution.
- Maintain warranty expenses within budget and work closely with
the customer care representatives to ensure prompt resolution of
escalated customer issues.
- Develop and implement a service work scheduling process which
results in timely completion of work.
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Construction Management
preferred or equivalent years of direct, on-site construction/home
building experience.
- At least 5 years of direct construction/home building
experience.
- General Contractor's License as required.
- Valid Driver's License required.Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledgeable about the construction industry including
construction cost, materials, products, methods and
procedures.
- Must have thorough knowledge of the trades, crafts and
equipment needed to complete the job, plus the ability to identify
potential problems.
- Knowledge and familiarity with blueprints, construction
drawings and addendum and reading.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without
compromising quality of work or mission deadlines.
- Proven organization skills in a high-paced work
environment.
- Must be able to use word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets,
presentation (PowerPoint), database and newsletter (Adobe) software
for advanced internal and external communications, creation of
reports and presentations and database maintenance.
- Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as
troubleshoot to solve problems.
- Knowledge of Business English and ability to communicate
patiently and professionally with both internal and external
customers both orally and in writing.
- Ability to adapt in a changing workplace.
